You need to take back your bedroom! And use it for its real purpose-a place to rejuvenate your soul and to connect with your partner!

1. Remove any distractions (offices/tvs etc,) if you can't; then keep them extremely cleaned and organized and ensure that you cannot see them from your bed! (A beautiful screen separating them is ideal)

2. Clear your clutter! Clutter as we have talked about leaves stagnant energy-not good for your sex life! Make sure your bedroom is clean -especially under your bed!

3. Invest in beautiful linens-Do you want to feel luxurious, sensual, nurtured? Purchase fabrics that feel fabulous!

4. Colour for Love-Different colours invoke different feelings in us-use colours of red, pink, maroon and purple to invoke passion, use colours of yellow, cream, peach and beige to feel nurtured and embraced with warmth! Avoid blues that dampen passion, or whites that feel cold. Use these colours for accessories, sheets, draperies or walls!

5. Gender Neutral-Your bedroom should be balanced and appeal to both partners. It should neither be too masculine nor too feminine but a lovely balance of both in order for both partners to feel nurtured and secure.

6. The Bed Position- Refer to your auspicious directions if possible and place the bed in the optimum facing for you and your partner-or just you if you are single. Ensure the bed has a view of the door, and is not under a window if possible (use a heavy blind or drape if necessary. Never use a bed from a previous relationship

7. Use the real fire element! Light candles or a fireplace to create an intimate and romantic room

8. Ceiling Fans- Ceiling fans disrupt a body's chi and your romantic chi, you should either swap it out for a chandelier on a dimmer, or minimize the blades by placing red dots on eat blade. (keep it on very low when absolutely necessary).

9. Scent for Love- Use beautiful scents, experiences through incense,oils, sprays, soaps or candles. Sensual scents include Jasmine, Sandlewood, Vanilla, Ylang Ylang and Rose. Scents can be used as a type of aphrodisiac!

10. In good repair! - If you want your relationship to be in good standing, your bedroom should be as well. Ensure any repairs are handled.

11. Create a "love" alter- Pick a space (on your dresser or a separate table where you can place a picture of you and your partner (or a symbol of a couple, with a beautiful crystal, a keepsake box of special items and perhaps some of your favourite music!

Feng shui has been part of Chinese philosophy and it has also worked for people even from other continents. Feng Shui - Property, Home, Land and Office Shapes

It can be said that the most important factor cited in opening up a restaurant or eatery is "Location, Location and Location". So is the concept of "Shape" when it comes to Feng Shui. In dealing with the advanced concepts of Feng Shui "shape" is not one small factor.
Rather shape is everything.

The shape of your block. Your house, your rooms and even your furniture play a most important component and together play a more than important part in the Feng Shui of your home, your abode or your working areas. Generally it can be stated that symmetrical shapes are considered most ideal. If on the other tack or side one considers the "L-shape" of a room - then the basis of the "L-Shape" can, will and does poses problems because at its very core the "L-shape" is unbalanced and incomplete. If and when you have not primary, basic, balanced shapes, you will need to look, think and ponder at how to balance these shapes. It's all at the beginning and basis of Feng Shui and the practice of Feng Shui.

In dealing with the shape of your land or property, wider on the northern and southern ends is considered to be best. If your block is not a true triangle then try to choose or even arrange your property lines so that the back is wider than the front or the converse that the front is narrower than the back end. What to do is this is not the case? First you might want to place a live plant or even a lamp in the very opposite corner if there is a corner portion that juts into your land. If there is planting space or soil around the offending corner then planting a hedge, hedges or even creeper plants up the walls to counter any of the sha qi offending energies that these corners might be emitting or generating. Lastly if your property of plot of land is based on a triangular shape then in order to fill out these corner areas in order that qi does not get trapped there.

When it comes to the shape or shapes of your home or office building then the wisest choice of all is basic rectangular shape. With simple rectangular shapes you can be assured that all rooms and their corner areas will be covered and not left exposed outside the basic areas of the flow of vital "qi". If you not fortunate enough and your home, abode or office structure does have "L shapes" then these missing corners again can again be covered with the use of trees or plants being planted in critical areas. A spotlight, lamp or even a skylight on the roof can be utilized. Alternatively mirrors can fill the void, or as an alternate the beautiful sound of wind chimes a be used to fill the voids.

In a similar manner rooms with L-shapes can be trouble. These can be enclosed with partitions, standing bookshelves or if necessary furniture itself or plants can be used to close the loop to shield and keep out negative sha qi.

If there is one word when it comes to shapes apparent in your rooms and their arrangement it is the word "symmetry". Symmetry means a whole by itself, and balance. Each room, each piece of furnishing, each accessory should call out by itself "symmetry".

The whole can never be greater than its parts. Work to choose furniture and accessories that are symmetrical in their own right. This way these components can both stand alone, build and contribute to the peace, serenity and arrangement of the rooms of your home, office or abode that you occupy. Feng Shui.

The Principles of Feng Shui

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of telling your destiny. The five elements of Feng Shui are Wood, Fire, Water, Earth and Metal. The elements are presided over by either the productive or destructive cycle. Is It a Bad Economy or Bad Feng Shui?

Recently, I spoke with a woman who said she and her husband were having a tough time financially. She thought maybe it was just the economy, but she wondered if a Feng Shui consultation might give the energies in their home a financial "boost." She mentioned the idea to her husband. His reply? "Honey, let's do this after our finances have improved!"

The problem is that there is every indication that their finances will not improve - even if the economy starts to soar. In fact, the situation the woman described seemed directly tied to negative energies in the home rather than to external economic factors. Without changing the Feng Shui in that environment, I can absolutely predict that they will have ongoing cash flow problems.

How can I say that? Because there are several tell-tale signs that negative energies are at work. Let's take a look:

1. You start to experience client cancellations or work falling through. Yes, the economy may cause people to hold onto their money, but be sensitive to a situation that seems to worsen no matter what you do. For example, watch for patterns such as clients who make appointments or are ready to sign contracts, but then they call and cancel. A Classical Feng Shui expert can run mathematical computations to see if conflicting energies are indeed at work. If that's the case, Feng Shui can also be used to re-balance those energies.

Feng Shui is so powerful at keeping cash flow positive that I have many clients - CEOs, life coaches, real estate developers, attorneys and investment bankers -- who consider my monthly Feng Shui consultations part of strategic business operations to help them avoid cancellations. In fact, as a practitioner of authentic Feng Shui I can not only see current negative energies, I can mathematically predict exactly when and where new business problems can arise and help my clients be proactive in keeping these problems from ever developing.

I just mention this as a caution to you in choosing a Feng Shui practitioner, because you do not want to base your business decisions (and financial future) on a Feng Shui hobbyist - only a classically trained expert in authentic Feng Shui can apply the complex ancient formulas to determine where the problem is and how to defuse it.

2. You've recently moved into a new home. Now, you find that relationships have become strained or you're hit with a flood of difficulties - you're experiencing financial setbacks, health issues, car accidents, legal hassles. If this "change in luck" happens shortly after moving in, the downturn in the economy probably isn't even at work here. Instead, it's a sign that the Feng Shui is out of balance. This can happen because every home has its own horoscope that shapes its energy patterns. If this conflicts with your own horoscope, you'll quickly experience difficulties.

A Feng Shui consultation can alert you to simple adjustments that will bring your home into better harmony with your own energy so it supports you instead of being "at war" with you. At the same time Feng Shui can eliminate negative energies, it can help stimulate positive energies, creating a dramatic change in the way you experience your home -- and life!

3. You're stuck in life. Things are just not moving. It might seem like you're working hard and doing everything right but that nothing is happening for you. The minute you begin remodeling, you begin changing the energetic balance. If you unwittingly expand an area of negative energy, you could soon find yourself experiencing an onset of overwhelming misfortune, conflict, anxiety, loss - even disease. Often, for example, couples invest in a master bedroom addition only to find that once they start sleeping in the new room, their relationship or health begins to break down. A Feng Shui and Vaastu assessment early in the remodeling process helps you avoid sinking considerable money into a renovation that will put your house at war with you. Instead, you'll know specific choices to avoid as well as choices - like the direction of a door or the position of a kitchen or bedroom - that can support you with a life- and luck-enhancing environment. Again, let me stress that this is not merely about serene lines and clear energy flow: it is about complex mathematical formulas that pinpoint energetic confluences and conflicts that can exist now -- and months down the road.

Done correctly, Feng Shui is almost unbelievably powerful and can lead to results nothing short of miraculous. In fact, in today's crazy economic climate, who can afford to have a home or office environment that's working against them? But remember, only traditional, authentic Classical Feng Shui can deliver such results. Perhaps that's why I'm hearing from so many clients who are investing in Feng Shui consultations to get help preventing economic woes from costing them not only their financial well-being, but the well-being of their relationships and health as well. It can truly make all the difference.

Lest you think that feng-shui is Chinese mambo-jambo based on superstitions, feng-shui actually contains common sense advice and good aesthetic sense in decorating your house. You will delightedly discover that feng-shui can even be applied to the kids' table & chairs in your children's bedrooms.

Color Me Light and Happy

Color plays a very important part in our lives - it can both influence our moods and convey our feelings in ways more powerful than actions and words. Thus, you have to choose colors for the kids' table & chairs that not only harmoniously blends in with the general color theme of the bedroom but will also favorably influence your children's moods.

According to the principles of feng-shui, your best color choices for children's furniture are earth-toned light colors that encourage relaxation and happiness. You can opt for colors like warm yellows, light oranges, soothing terracotta, pleasing greens, pale violets and baby pinks. Of course, this color scheme also goes for the entire bedroom.

On the other hand, you have to avoid installing dark-colored kids' table & chairs that induces dark moods. Stay away from depressingly dark blues, sinister black trims, and boring gray shades in kids' furniture if you wish to make for a welcoming children's bedroom.

However, you have to consult your children on your color choices especially when they are of an age when color preferences are more pronounced. You can compromise by explaining your reasons for your color theme and allowing your child to pick out the style of the kids' table & chairs he wants.

Location, Location, Location

In feng-shui, the location of furniture and fixtures in the bedrooms is paramount. Thus, you will hear of beds accessible from both sides, beds not facing the door's direct line of sight, and beds with headboards in feng-shui.

For kids table & chairs, the best location you can provide for is at the northeast corner of the bedroom. With a study lamp to complete the setup, you are reinforcing the value of education and the value you attach to his accomplishments, big and small, academic and artistic and athletic. On the south wall, you can set up a display area for all his accomplishments like crafts, citation letters, awards, ribbons, trophies and even test papers with good scores!

The important thing is that the bedroom's layout of furniture and fixture is conducive to free and easy movement during the daytime and relaxed contentment during the nighttime. In this line, remember that for children, less clutter is better.

Optimal Lighting

Though you have to encourage children not to be afraid of the dark, you have to ensure that their bedrooms have optimal lighting. Not only is this strongly advised by feng-shui practitioners but it holds common sense advice because children do need to see well within the confines of their bedrooms.

That said, you can put in lights in the bedrooms that contain several levels of lighting, of which dimmers are the best choice. However, if you do not want dimmers, then just ensure that the lights are neither too strong nor too weak. The latter discourages good sleeping patterns while the latter strains the eyes, both of which are definitely not good for children's health.

Again, you have to ensure that the kids' table & chairs set that serve as their study-cum-studio area contain appropriate lighting. You don't want your little Einstein and Little Picasso to suffer from sub-par lighting!

Indeed, with a little practice, feng-shui can be easy and good for you and your children!

What is Feng Shui Design?
The meaning of Feng Shui has become clouded since the 1980s when it was introduced to the West. It was turned into a new age marketing gimmick that falsely promises wealth, health and love using lucky charms and novelty products. If you have been confused about Feng Shui from what you have read in magazines and books, you are right! The phrase Feng Shui is being abused by many and marketed as psychology, positive thinking, intention, spiritualism, belief and superstition. In the professional industry this is known as Mickey Mouse or Mc Feng Shui and really is a simple set of rules to make changes in your home to progress in an area of life. Interpretation is everything with Mc Feng Shui and there are a thousand different people advising DIY Feng Shui tips. Great to have fun with, but miles away from its origins.

Classical Feng Shui
Also known as traditional and authentic Feng Shui. This ancient practice uses the laws of heaven (astronomy) and earth (geography). On a basic level Feng Shui is a tool for natural & urban environment analysis. A classical Feng Shui survey assesses an individual plot and property looking at strengths and weaknesses using different methods and formulae. Practical recommendations can then be made to strengthen and harmonise the property. There are two main classical schools:

Form School (earth/geography)
One of the oldest systems, originally used for placement of burial graves, progressing onto building location for the living. This focuses on finding the best position within the landscape, which is the safest & securest location. So what makes a safe and secure location? Think primitively. Times when men were hunter gathers and women were the home makers. Historically our ancestors positioned their dwellings with basic Form School principles to ensure survival; meaning protection, resources and climate. It is not widely known that the external landscape counts for 60% of a Feng Shui evaluation.

Compass School (heaven/astronomy)
A specialised Chinese compass called the Lo Pan is used to take readings of various positions in the premises. Calculations are used to evaluate the orientation of the plot, building and room location as well as room function and the subtleties of time. Some methods look at the individual and how they relate to the property, whereas some methods focus on the building and contents. The 5 Element Theory (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) is used within Compass School to help balance strong and weak areas.

If you do not have the time to conduct your own feng shui analysis and you would rather have a feng shui master do it for you that's fine. You need to find an expert and that in itself will be a very difficult task because you can't possibly be shown everything this person knows with just one consultation.

Let's talk about house shapes and how they may be regarded as lucky or unlucky. Irregular shaped homes can give rise to missing corners and that will definitely create problems of some sort. This all depends on what actual corner is missing. You will have to figure this out by dividing your home layout into nine grids and then identifying the compass direction that is missing. A great way to fix this problem is by wall mirrors or placing lights on the outside to use as an extension of the wall. The best fix would be to add an additional room.

Did you know that square shaped houses are certainly the best? This shape will give you the best when it comes to feng shui. The reason it works best is because this shape lends itself based on the compass. Square houses offer stable and firm foundation. Here is another thing you may have not known: Round shaped houses may mean money luck. There is a downside to this and that is that these houses or buildings may become too strong and it may actually overwhelm the residents. A bank would be a good example of a round structure.

Living at a dead end will only rot chi in that location and if there are ever problems, there will be no way out of them. The one way you can fix this problem, the one way you can fix living in a cul-de-sac would be to keep lights on behind the home during the night and have lights on at the gate because this will keep bad chi from coming into your home. Another thing to keep in mind is that you should make sure that your home isn't squished between two taller buildings because this will keep you from the good 'fortune' wind.

Now about the neighborhood you need to look for prosperity signs. If the gardens look good, the houses are well taken care of, and the streets are clean then you should be able to feel the air of prosperity!

Practical Feng Shui Tips

Feng Shui is the traditional Chinese method of arranging objects such as furniture to help people achieve their goals and to be successful. The word Feng means wind and Shui translates to water. As Feng Shui is applicable to other rooms of the house, so it is applicable to the dining room and dining room furniture as well. Using Feng Shui principles in the dining room is thought to stimulate conversation as well as the appetite. What is central to the Feng Shui principles is the flow of Chi, which is generally translated as 'air' or 'energy'. The dining room furniture should be of the kind and should be arranged in a manner so as to facilitate optimum flow of Chi in the room. The arrangement of the furniture should be such that the Chi is not stagnant or restricted. Chi must be allowed to flow gently in the room.

The Dining Room Table: Usually the tenets of Feng Shui require that there should be some open space left in the center of a room; however there is an exception to this rule where it comes to dining furniture. Here the dining room table itself should be at the center of the room, and should preferably be equidistant from each side of the room. There should be enough room around the table for persons to sit and get up comfortably; i.e. the area should not be cramped. It is also thought that the shape of the dining table should be round or oval, or even octagonal without sharp edges so that the flow of Chi is not impeded. Practically speaking as well, a circular dining table tends to stimulate conversation because there is less distance between the people sitting down to a meal. In the event that your dining table is square or rectangular, it may be beneficial to place a round or octagonal center piece in the center. This is also thought to facilitate flow of Chi.

Dining Room Chairs: According to the tenets of Feng Shui, you should have an even (not odd) number of chairs placed around the dining room table, to create a balance. Also there should be enough room behind the dining chairs to facilitate easy movement and comfortable seating of people. Care should be taken to see that the chairs are not blocking any points of ingress and egress. Pick relaxed dining room chairs with a comfortable back support, so that the experience of dining is enhanced.

Lighting: Poor lighting, cramped or cluttered spaces and heavy bulky or dark dining room furniture is best avoided from the Feng Shui point of view. The area should be well lit, perhaps with a bright central light such as a chandelier above the center of the dining table. Candles may also be used, but they should be used to enhance light rather than be the main source of light in the room. While there may commonly be two doors to a dining room, since this would facilitate better natural light in the room as well as cross ventilation, it is thought to be better if these doors do not face one another.
